Jul. 25—GOSHEN — At its Thursday meeting, the Goshen Board of Public Works addressed the impact of a crash which had taken place the same afternoon. Director of Public Works Dustin Sailor spoke to the board about the crash, in which a vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant along Denver Avenue, west of Kroger's driveway, jarring the connected water main, causing it to break in multiple locations. Six customers were impacted, and the area is currently under a water boil order.

Sharol Cloud is a Silent Auction Committee member. She said the auction had 53 items entered as of Saturday, ranging from gift certificates, gift baskets, aprons, table runners and others. The event is a fundraiser for the Home and Family Arts Building.

GOSHEN — With the Elkhart County 4-H Fair parade marching by, the news of President Joe Biden's decision to withdraw from the presidential race broke — and several parade-goers took a moment to share their thoughts. "Good luck to our country and thank God," said Cyrus Little, Ligonier. Steve Peel, Goshen, noted widespread concerns about Biden's health. "He should (drop out)," Peel said.

GOSHEN — Multicolored balloons, mini-picnics and at least one lemonade stand helped make Sunday's Elkhart County 4-H Fair Parade for 2024 a bona-fide community event. "It's pretty awesome," said Matt Armbuster, Syracuse, who watched from about the corner of Lincoln and Main Streets. "My daughter is in the parade."Following the Parade 5000 Road Run, which headed through downtown Goshen, the parade got underway around 1:30 p.m. from its staging area at Linway Plaza.
