There are no plans to close a Staffordshire town's minor injuries unit (MIU), according to NHS bosses. Leek Moorlands Hospital was not mentioned in plans for MIUs in the area to become urgent treatment centres (UTCs), leading to fears it could be closed. However Tracy Shewan, a director at Staffordshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), said there were "no plans at the moment" for any changes at the site.

A children's playground in Staffordshire has been closed after heavy rainfall caused a nearby river to burst it banks. Flood water from the River Tean covered the play area in Jubilee Park, Checkley, leading to concerns from the parish council the water could be contaminated due to the combined system allowing rainwater and sewage to move through the same pipes.

Jonathan Gullis said he had struggled to find a job after he lost his bid to be re-elected as MP for Stoke-on-Trent North during the general election in July. He was previously a teacher, but said he had not yet managed to secure a job interview, and he believed this was due to his political views.
