After growing for years in nearby Flagler County, AdventHealth is taking its first step into St. Johns County with plans for more. The health care provider officially broke ground on its standalone ER facility at State Road 207 on Tuesday. Located east of I-95 near the intersection of S.R. 207 and Wildwood Drive, the 12-bed emergency department is set to open in early 2026.

The current structure near the beach was built in 1958. The developer that has the Magic Beach Motel under contract shared his redevelopment plans with the Vilano Beach community at a recent meeting. Colonia Development representative Rick Johnston said the plan for the property is to erect up to two buildings with a maximum of 20 condominiums and 5,000 square feet of retail space. The project is not to the permitting process yet.

Commissioners decided they didn't want to risk surrendering all control over the World Golf Village property. St. Johns County commissioners have a firm direction with what they want to do with the former World Golf Hall of Fame site, but that doesn't mean anyone knows what will actually go there. At Tuesday's regular Commission meeting, the commissioners voted 5-0 to pursue bids for a public-private partnership for the property that used to contain a golf museum and IMAX theater.

Previous owners will maintain their chiropractic office at the site. The owner of one of the top-rated restaurants in St. Augustine recently purchased the property he was leasing on Anastasia Boulevard. The mixed-use commercial building 415 and 419 Anastasia Blvd. was purchased for $1.4 million by Llama Restaurant owner and chef Marcel Vizcarra through Laughing Llama LLC. The deal closed Thursday. Vizcarra's Llama has been a tenant of the building since opening.

DeBartolo Development is making waves in St. Johns County with a major multifamily project. Find out how many units are planned and what other developments the company has in the works. A large apartment project by DeBartolo Development in the MuraBella area of St. Johns County received a bevy of permits on Friday. Being built by DeBartolo Construction Services, the project received a total of 19 permits for about $41.1 million.

A 40-year veteran of the company, Sandlin has been president of Florida Rock since 2003. Rob Sandlin, president of Florida Rock & Tank Lines, has announced his plans to retire on May 2. Sandlin served as the president and CEO of the publicly traded company Patriot Transportation Holding Inc., when it was sold to United Petroleum Transports in December 2023, and he continued in his role as president with Florida Rock and Tank Lines after the deal closed.

The tournament, played at Jacksonville's Timuquana Country Club, has generated nearly $5 million since launching in 2021. Tournament organizers announced this week that the 2024 Constellation Furyk & Friends presented by Circle K generated more than $1.17 million for local charitable organizations. That brought the cumulative total raised to more than $4.7 million since the tournament’s inception in 2021.
