After growing for years in nearby Flagler County, AdventHealth is taking its first step into St. Johns County with plans for more. The health care provider officially broke ground on its standalone ER facility at State Road 207 on Tuesday. Located east of I-95 near the intersection of S.R. 207 and Wildwood Drive, the 12-bed emergency department is set to open in early 2026.

The current structure near the beach was built in 1958. The developer that has the Magic Beach Motel under contract shared his redevelopment plans with the Vilano Beach community at a recent meeting. Colonia Development representative Rick Johnston said the plan for the property is to erect up to two buildings with a maximum of 20 condominiums and 5,000 square feet of retail space. The project is not to the permitting process yet.

Commissioners decided they didn't want to risk surrendering all control over the World Golf Village property. St. Johns County commissioners have a firm direction with what they want to do with the former World Golf Hall of Fame site, but that doesn't mean anyone knows what will actually go there. At Tuesday's regular Commission meeting, the commissioners voted 5-0 to pursue bids for a public-private partnership for the property that used to contain a golf museum and IMAX theater.
