Now, thousands of people tucked into a historically Black community in Marion County are a step closer to getting the care they need.The Estella Byrd Whitman Community Health Center's CEO, Levonda James, promised she would return to the area and help provide access to those people who were underserved after her grandmother didn't have access to care in a timely manner. "We really do focus on primary care," James said.

Marquis McKenzie knows the harsh realities of life in prison. Charged as an adult at just 15 for armed robbery, his journey began with a single poor decision. “We saw a random person get out of a car, and I decided to approach that individual,” McKenzie recalled. “I held him at gunpoint, took some of their belongings, and ran off.”Unbeknownst to McKenzie, someone recorded the incident. Within minutes, police tracked him down and arrested him.
