    BRATTLEBORO — A Florida doctor charged with the Vermont road-rage murder of a truck driver will be allowed to attend an upcoming suppression hearing remotely. The attorneys for Dr. Joszef Piri of Naples, Fla., are challenging the legality of search and the arrest warrants in the murder case, which were granted by Windham Superior Court Judge John Treadwell. As a result, a second judge, Elizabeth Mann, has been hearing the issue and she granted Piri's request on Wednesday after a brief hearing.

    BRATTLEBORO — A 23-year-old New Hampshire man accused of hitting and critically injuring an elderly Putney woman with his car on Thursday was ordered held without bail Friday. Windham Superior Court Judge John Treadwell ordered Jason A. Ball, 23, of Alstead, N.H., held without bail, as Treadwell cited his long record in New Hampshire of ignoring motor vehicle conditions placed on his license.

    PUTNEY — An elderly Putney woman, out for an afternoon walk with a friend, was injured Thursday after a Jeep struck her as she was on the sidewalk near the  front of the Putney Food Coop on Route 5. The woman, who uses a red and black walker, was airlifted to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, Putney fire/rescue officials said. Weather around Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center made flying its medical helicopter difficult Thursday afternoon.
