Published 5:30 am Saturday, June 7, 2025 PENDLETON — Local pilots will provide youths ages 8-17 with introductory flights during Young Eagles Day at the Eastern Oregon Regional Airport in Pendleton. The free flight program is June 21 from 8 a.m. to noon. Those wanting to participate should register in advance, as there will be limited walk-on availability. A parent or guardian must accompany youths and sign a waiver. The event also features static displays and flight simulators.

Published 6:00 am Friday, June 6, 2025 FOREST GROVE — Pacific University announced that three local students were named to the spring 2025 dean’s list: Heavenly Coleman and Daisy Wolverton, both of Hermiston, and Jagjot Singh, of Stanfield. The academic honor recognizes full-time students earning a grade point average of 3.7 or higher while completing at least 12 course hours. Based in Forest Grove, Pacific University was originally granted its charter at Tualatin Academy in 1849.

Published 6:00 am Friday, June 6, 2025 PENDLETON — The 2025 David Jon Lindberg Memorial Scholarship recipient is Saralen Campbell, a 2025 Pendleton High School graduate. Campbell will use the $2,500 award at Eastern Oregon University, where she will major in environmental science. She is the daughter of Jason and Kirsten Campbell, of Pendleton. At PHS, Campbell was involved in numerous school and community activities, including swimming, track, jazz band and the National Honor Society.

Published 5:30 am Friday, June 6, 2025 PENDLETON — The annual Bach Yard Party, a fundraiser for the Oregon East Symphony, features a barbecue, music and an auction. The symphony’s board of directors is hosting the event on Saturday, June 14, at 6 p.m. in The Secret Garden, at 480 SW Dorion Ave., Pendleton. Tickets are $80. In its third year, the fundraiser supports Playing for Keeps, the symphony’s classical music education program for youths.
