For Kari Lake’s Senate campaign, things have gone from bad to worse. Just weeks out from Election Day, a poll had her trailing her Democratic opponent in the Arizona Senate race by double-digit points, her largest deficit to date. She didn’t get the backing of the Arizona Police Association, which gave its endorsement to her Democratic opponent instead, even though the traditionally Republican group endorsed her two years ago during her unsuccessful gubernatorial run.

Facing trial for attempting to overturn Arizona’s election results in 2020, Donald Trump’s allies are digging deep into state code to find a way out of the criminal charges. Judge Bruce Cohen, who set a January 2026 trial date for the case, has spent the week listening to the defendants’ arguments that the charges should be dismissed on free speech grounds and over technicalities on certification deadlines.

Anti-abortion advocates are still putting up a campaign against it, but they’re facing long odds on a policy fight that has grown increasingly favorable for Democrats.

Sen. Mark Kelly didn’t get picked to be Kamala Harris’ running mate. His consolation prize, however, may be his rising stock in Arizona politics. The senator is growing into his role as the senior-most Democrat in the state and being viewed as more of an influential figure in the swing state’s often contentious elections — a clout that has only increased since he was floated as a top contender for vice president.
