The CIF Southern Section high school baseball championships were played over the weekend where nine teams were crowned CIF champs. The highlight of the weekend came Friday night at Cal State Fullerton when St. John Bosco beat Santa Margarita 3-2 in nine innings thanks to a walk-off single from Miles Clark to grant the Braves their first CIF title in program history. Saturday was host to eight finals at two different sites: Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State.

AB Hernandez, a transgender track athlete at Jurupa Valley High School in California, won two CIF State track and field championships Saturday. Hernandez, a biological male, won the high jump with a top mark of 5 feet, 7 inches, and won the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 2.75 inches. Hernandez also finished 2nd in the long jump (20 feet, 8.75 inches).

In front of a sold-out crowd, the CIF Southern Section Division 1 final delivered. Southern California is known for its hotbed of high school baseball talent, and it was on display Friday night at Cal State Fullerton as St. John Bosco defeated Santa Margarita 3-2 in nine innings to lift the coveted CIF championship plaque under the bright lights at Goodwin Field. Miles Clark delivered a walk-off single to end the never-ending game, which lasted 3 hours and 18 minutes.

The climax of the CIF Southern Section's high school baseball season is here. After a survive-and-advance format in the playoffs, the CIF finals are set for Friday and Saturday at a combination of two sites: Cal State Fullerton and Long Beach State. The primer to the finals came in the semifinals when St. John Bosco stunned No. 1 Corona 2-0 at home thanks to a stellar pitching performance from Trevor Heishman.
