    The Financial Conduct Authority has defended the decision to clear its chair of whistleblowing misconduct following an internal review. In August 2024, a former employee who left the FCA some years ago made an allegation publicly that, in the course of whistleblowing, their identity was not kept confidential by chair Ashley Alder. The regulator launched an internal review to investigate the complaints, led by the board’s senior independent director Richard Lloyd.

New CFO for SchrodersSchroders has appointed Meagen Burnett as its new chief financial officer (CFO). She will succeed Richard Oldfield, who was named group chief executive earlier this month. Burnett joined Schroders in January 2023 and in her new role will be responsible for financial management, capital, and treasury, and oversee operations and technology.

    There is a growing recognition among advisers that the Consumer Duty has “real teeth” and will require ongoing effort to ensure the successful implementation of its requirements, Schroders has found. The Consumer Duty came into effect in July 2023. The Schroders UK Financial Adviser Survey for 2024, published today (13 June), revealed that 39% of advisers now think that the Duty will have a high or reasonably high impact on their business, compared to 25% a year ago.
