    Residents fed up with our poorly maintained roads have voiced their frustrations about vehicle-wrecking potholes causing endless misery. Boksburg Advertiser visited some of the most affected stretches of roads in Boksburg and spoke to residents and businesses. They said the road defects are damaging their vehicles and the metro is ignoring their complaints, failing to take the necessary steps to combat the pothole epidemic in the city.

    The City of Ekurhuleni’s DEMS training academy at the Leon Ferreira Fire Station, in Trichardts Road, has entered a new era by transitioning to digital theory exams. According to the training academy manager, Theresa Geldenhuys, this marks the first time in history that firefighting exams are being conducted digitally in Ekurhuleni. She explained that 29 students are in the midst of taking their rope-rescue exams using electronic devices, such as laptops.

    Hoërskool OosterligHoërskool Oosterlig’s Class of 2024 achieved a 98.5% pass rate, increasing from last year’s 95.42%. A total of 201 matriculants at the school sat for their National Senior Certificate exams, and the school flew high with 222 distinctions. Some 76.7% of learners passed with bachelor’s passes, while 17.4% attained diploma passes. “This is an improvement from 2023, but we are still striving for a 100% pass rate.

    South Africa is hosting Zimbabwe in a World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC) U18 World Cup African qualifier to battle for a spot in the U18 world cup in Japan from September 5 to 14. The two countries meet in a five-match series at the Boksburg Cardinals main diamond with a double header today, another double header tomorrow and the final match on Sunday (January 19) morning.
