The Lake Havasu City Fire Department was called out to the 2000 block of Swanson Avenue around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday in response to a reported vehicle fire. A battalion chief with the department said the fire was contained to the vehicle and that it was not a major fire, but did not have any additional information. Two individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center for further evaluation following a head-on collision on State Route 95 on Tuesday. According to Sgt. Kyle Ridgway with the Lake Havasu City Police Department, officers responded to the accident, which occurred at the intersection of SR 95 and S. Thunderbolt Middle School will be implementing a new intervention process to help promote positive student behavior. Parents received an email on Monday letting them know that the new process is being put in place to support “positive student behavior and provide opportunities for growth.” According to the email, if a student receives a warning for behavior that is not safe, responsible, or respectful, they will be given an intervention slip. kAmkDA2?mkDA2?

Much of Arizona is continuing to experience different levels of drought, with portions of Mohave and La Paz Counties seeing the highest level. Rain might be in the short and long-term forecast for the region, however. According to the Arizona Department of Water Resources, temperatures statewide were warmer than normal in March, with the month being the 29th warmest of the 131 years recorded.

The Lake Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously on Wednesday to recommend approval of a developer’s request to build a small gated community in Havasu Riviera rather than planned townhomes. Originally, developer Desert Land Group planned to construct 17 townhomes on Marina View Avenue within the overall Havasu Riviera development. Prior to that, there was a possibility of a hotel being built on the site.
