Carroll County Fiscal Court has decided to stop offering a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) insurance plan for county employees, and put everyone under a traditional insurance plan when policies are renewed for next year. Scott Brown, representing Phil Brown Insurance Company, laid out the options for the court at its regular meeting on Tuesday while discussing health insurance and dental insurance renewals for county employees.

Sam Burgess, director of Carrollton’s Main Street Program, reported on several upcoming projects and events for downtown Carrollton during department reports at Monday night’s Carrollton City Council meeting. Burgess said the Main Street program will place 32 hanging flower baskets — each 22 inches on chains and brackets — throughout the downtown area. Originally only two dozen baskets were purchased, but Mayor Robb Adams said the city recently bought eight more units to better beautify the area.

Members of Carroll Fiscal Court and several Carroll County residents who live on private roads in the county met during a work session Monday morning to discuss the procedure and requirements for adopting private roads into the county’s inventory. The issue was just one of several the Court dealt with in a special work session that also included a discussion on the elimination of constable pay in Carroll County and adoption of a solar farm ordinance.
