A 100-year-old, three-story tree came crashing down Friday on vehicles and a home in Boston. The vehicles were parked along Laurel Street in the city's Roxbury neighborhood. The tree fell across the road and onto a house. Two cars sustained major damage, but luckily, no one was injured. Neighbors said it was a windy morning when the tree fell at about 8 a.m. They heard a giant crash when it landed on Minerole Bonifacia's house.

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority christened two newly-named ferries after a naming contest was held. The contest was open to kindergarten through eighth-grade students from Boston, Quincy, Winthrop and Lynn, including public and private schools and homeschooled students.
