NORWALK, Conn. — The Norwalk Board of Education has finalized a revised FY2025-26 budget plan that restores more than 60 school-based positions, but only after cutting local funding for universal free school meals to meet a $2 million reduction target requested by city and state leaders. The board tabled a final vote Tuesday night after a tense and, at times, disorderly meeting marked by concerns over transparency, union negotiations, and tradeoffs required to close the budget gap.
