Josh Hill has been left with little choice but to relive Dartford’s promotion play-off final defeat against Dover many times over. The centre-back, 33, has decided to hang up his boots after skippering the Darts during a 2024/25 campaign, in which they earned a third-placed Isthmian Premier finish, before they went down 2-0 in their showdown against Jake Leberl’s outfit as Ady Pennock’s side narrowly missed out on an immediate return to National League South.

Among Friend’s ex-managers are Neil Cugley, Jay Saunders, Steve Lovell, Steve Watt and Tommy Warrilow.

Having competed in the top tier of English non-league a decade ago, the club found themselves playing Isthmian Premier football under Ady Pennock last time out. They had led the table and still could have won the title on the last day of the regular season, only for Horsham to edge them out, before the Darts were defeated 2-0 at home against Dover in their play-off final.

Boss Tommy Warrilow has described Faversham’s pre-season schedule as probably the toughest he has arranged in management. The Lilywhites will prepare for their Isthmian South East return in the 2025/26 campaign with a series of friendlies against largely higher-division opposition.
