A Union City man who admitted to having sexual contact with a 17-year-old high school student while he was a volunteer football coach in the Union City Area School District was sentenced on May 23 to serve two years of probation for his crimes. Daulton J. Kerns, 25, pleaded guilty as charged before Erie County Judge Daniel Brabender to a third-degree felony count of disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor and two misdemeanor counts of corruption of minors.

An Erie man accused of wielding a drill disguised as a weapon as he robbed a gas station and attempted to rob a pizzeria in the city in September and October apologized to his parents and said he took full responsibility for his actions as he stood in an Erie County courtroom for sentencing on May 21. Those actions, Chief Deputy District Attorney Steven Liboski said, included violently assaulting a female gas station clerk and terrorizing employees just trying to make a living.

An Erie woman accused by city police of inflicting a serious head injury on a teenage boy in January 2023 was sentenced recently to a term of probation after pleading no-contest to one charge in the case. Sade M. Moore, 35, was sentenced by Erie County Judge John J. Mead to three years of probation on her no-contest plea to a first-degree misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of children.
