It’s been a couple of years since I’ve mentioned here on FrontBurner that we need to dredge White Rock Lake. Not sure how that’s possible. If you’ve visited this blog with any frequency, you’ve likely suffered one or more of my posts about dredging. If the concept is new to you, here’s a primer:We need to dredge White Rock Lake. ASAP. OK, here’s a slightly longer primer: silt flows into the lake from our northern neighbors via White Rock Creek (and other feeders).

You might be aware that Burger Schmurger opens today in the old Bar None spot off Buckner Boulevard. It will do meat from 3-11 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 12 a.m., Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday. No Tuesday for you! It will be good. I live down the street and am excited about it, but don’t tell Goodfriend I said that. Like, Goodfriend is my wife; Burger Schmurger will be my side piece. Now we need to have some real talk.

Katie Schuck signed up in November to star as Dallas’ new film commissioner, a position responsible for attracting film and television productions to the city. (Schuck is fresh off a similar role in Savannah, Georgia.) She describes herself as a “movie dork,” which is a very good thing. How would you explain your job as a film commissioner to a 10-year-old? We recruit film and television productions to our respective regions.

I need to say right up front here that I have no idea what I’m talking about. I have an American Studies degree. Commercial real estate and the development of destination resorts are not my thing. If you want to talk about Kurt Vonnegut novels or why Civil War soldiers were terrible marksmen, I have something worthwhile to contribute. Otherwise? It’s probably best to ignore me. That said, this Therme resort spa thing is in trouble.

Deep Ellum is a neighborhood of ebb and flow, and for a time, starting with the original Club Clearview, in 1985, no one rode those waves with more reckless abandon than Jeff Swaney. In D Magazine’s 35th anniversary issue, we identified the opening of Clearview as one of the biggest moments in the city’s modern history. With his partner, Jeffrey Yarbrough, Swaney went on to open the Art Bar and Blind Lemon.

I’ve left this site because it is owned by a racist South African who is looting our government but this news must be shared, even on platforms that are actively destroying democracy: https://t.co/ky99y8MWop

I’ll be giving it another week or so, then no more Twitter. Y’all consider joining the sky on the other side that is blue. No Nazis. No Elon algorithm.
