A longtime residential education and job training program with locations in Tulsa and other parts of Oklahoma is among the latest casualties of federal cutting. The U.S. Department of Labor announced Thursday that it is pausing operations of its 60-year-old Job Corps program, a move that will affect the federally funded program's centers nationwide. In addition to the Tulsa location, at 1133 N. Lewis Ave., Oklahoma has Job Corps sites in Tahlequah and Guthrie.

Extreme cold to remain a problem Wednesday after snowfall’s departure TULSA, Oklahoma (Tulsa World) — With a winter storm moving through the area Tuesday, Tulsans were bracing for a Wednesday morning of single-digit temperatures and dangerous wind chills on top of 3-4 inches of snow accumulation. While the snowfall was expected to finish early Wednesday, an extreme cold warning will remain in effect for much of northeastern Oklahoma through noon Thursday.

Qualifying senior adults who would like help with their tax returns can take advantage of a free opportunity beginning Monday, Feb. 3. LIFE Senior Services' annual tax assistance program, offered on site at the nonprofit's central office, 5950 E. 31st St., is returning and will be available through April 15. The program will also be offered at the Roma Berry Center for Seniors, 4821 S. 72nd East Ave. To qualify, individuals must be age 60 or older with an annual household income of $68,000 or less.

The Tulsa area will remain under a winter storm warning through noon Friday, with snowfall totals of 4-6 inches projected. Tulsa Public Schools was among several area districts to cancel classes for Friday. The district's enrollment expo, scheduled for Saturday at the University of Tulsa, has also been canceled for the weather. The Broken Arrow, Bixby, Berryhill, Jenks, Sand Springs and Union school districts, as well as Tulsa Technology Center, also canceled Friday classes.
