LANCASTER, S.C. — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office arrested three adults and detained three juveniles after a woman was shot and killed in her car. Larisha Sharell Thompson’s family found her inside her car, suffering a gunshot wound, on the side of Riverside Road on May 2. Paramedics said Thompson was dead upon their arrival.

INDIAN LAND, S.C. — South Carolina Governor Henry said the state needs to put an officer in every public school. But time is running out for lawmakers to provide funds. Sheriff Barry Faile told Channel 9’s Tina Terry that he envisions a School Resource Officer in every elementary school in the state. But that dream is not yet a reality. “The parents want to know their kids are going to a safe environment,” Faile said.

FORT MILL, S.C. — South Carolina lawmakers have filed two different bills to stop the construction of a solar facility near Fort Mill. It’s the latest effort against Silfab Solar, which is slated to open between Highway 21 and Interstate 77. Residents, like Scott Jensen, told Channel 9 they are grateful to have support from lawmakers. “We were very excited. I was very excited. We’ve been fighting for almost a year,” Jensen said.

Both billboards are posted on Highway 21, near Logistics Lane in Fort Mill. One sign calls Silfab a “Toxic Chemical Site” and says the plant will be within one mile of 12 schools. The group Citizens for Governmental Integrity posted the billboards.
