A rabies alert has been issued for part of St. Johns County, Florida after an unvaccinated cat tested positive. The alert zone is bordered by King St., State Road 312, the Intracoastal Waterway, and Osceola Elementary Road. Residents are urged to supervise pets, and report any animal bites to authorities. The Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County has issued a rabies alert in St. Johns County after rabies was confirmed in an unvaccinated cat, according to a release.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A woman has been arrested in connection with the fentanyl overdose death of a 23-year-old who died in a hotel room in East Arlington earlier this year, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Monday. According to police, officers responded to the scene in March after the young woman was found unresponsive. The Medical Examiner's Office later determined she died from a fentanyl overdose. Investigators say she had traveled from out of state to Florida to purchase drugs.

LAKE WALES, Fla. — A woman stabbed her long-term boyfriend to death after he hit her over the head with a machete Thursday afternoon, according to the Lake Wales Police Department. The fight started around 4:45 p.m. outside an apartment complex on West Sessoms Avenue near North Phillips Street. Investigators say a man hit his girlfriend of 10 years in the face, which led to her retreat into her home to call 911.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Law enforcement officials are responding as thousands of "No Kings" protests are planned across the US Saturday. Opponents of President Donald Trump are expected to rally in hundreds of cities Saturday during his military parade in Washington, according to the Associated Press. This also coincides with Trump's birthday. The name "No Kings" was introduced by an organization called the 50501 Movement, standing for 50 states, 50 protests, one movement.
