A 72-year-old man who was trapped by the rising tide on the beach in Isla Vista was rescued Tuesday night, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. Two men who were attempting to assist the victim called 9-1-1 to summon help, and firefighters responded to the scene below Del Playa Drive near Camino Pescadero, said fire Capt. Scott Safechuck.

Two women were injured, one critically, when they were struck by a car Tuesday evening while walking in Isla Vista, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 6:45 p.m. to the collision on Camino Pescadero at Sabado Tarde Road, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said. One woman suffered major injuries, while the other sustained minor injuries, Safechuck said.

A teenager who was stabbed Wednesday night in the Goleta Valley died of his injuries, and investigators are searching for his assailant. Deputies responded shortly after 8:45 p.m. to San Simeon Drive near Turnpike Road, where they found the 17-year-old boy down in the roadway, according to Raquel Zick, public information officer for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives are investigating a stabbing that occurred Wednesday night near San Marcos High School in the Goleta Valley, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded shortly after 8:48 p.m. to the incident on San Simeon Drive near Turnpike Road, Raquel Zick, sheriff’s spokeswoman, told Noozhawk. The victim reportedly was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries. The person’s name and details on their condition were not available.
