Indiana officials could start digging into the details of shifting numerous rural southern Illinois counties into Indiana even without the involvement of Illinois leaders under changes made to legislation heading to the Senate floor. The highly unlikely shifting of the Indiana-Illinois state line is the focus of House Bill 1008, which calls for the creation of a commission with members from both states to study the issue.
