HERKIMER, NY -- The village of Herkimer held a special meeting of the Board of Trustees Monday evening. On the agenda, this year's tentative budget for the village, and the tax levy limit. Last year the village saw a budget increase of over 6.5 %. This year they're looking at a budget of just over $7.56 Million dollars. Originally village residents were looking at a 12.5 % tax increase, but officials have managed to get that down to 10.3 %.

VERNON, NY -- The eighth annual Gala Di Mistero Masquerade Ball to benefit The Neighborhood Center was held at the Vernon Downs Casino Hotel Saturday evening. Set against a backdrop of shimmering diamonds and glistening ice, this year's ball bedazzled those in attendance with opulence and intrigue. The evening featured a wide variety of themed delicacies, an open bar serving signature cocktails, live music, mesmerizing illusions and other unexpected surprises.

UTICA, NY -- The annual East Utica Classic Gala was held Saturday evening at the 72 Tavern and Grill in Utica. Each year, the gala raises funds for a specific person in need of medical care. This year that person is part of the wktv extended family - Giovanna Defazio, the sister of weekend meteorologist James Defazio. After collapsing during Covid at the hospital she works at, Gia was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called Primary Biliary Cholangitis.

HERKIMER, NY -- Village of Herkimer officials and engineers continue their efforts to get the water flowing to the village following a water main break on the northern line due to a land slide. According to a post on thevillages Facebook page, Mayor Dana Sherry says the village has 2 sources of water. The northern line, where the break occurred, and artesian wells. The village met with several contractors Tuesday to see if it was possible to just get water from the wells.
