A man was chased through Leicester city centre by police after stealing a binful of items from B&M. Adrian Thomas, 51, entered the Haymarket branch of the discount shop and took a bin from the shelves and filled it with about £68 worth of cleaning products before making for the door. Staff alerted Leicestershire Police, and a police community support officer (PCSO) who was nearby chased Thomas, who dropped the bin outside Ryman's stationery store in the shopping centre and fled empty-handed.

A woman attacked a pensioner as he walked home with his shopping after he refused to give her money. Selima Bowman was living on the streets when she approached a 76-year-old man outside Tesco in London Road, Leicester city centre, and asked for £10. He said no, and went into the store after withdrawing £200 in cash. He left seven minutes later with two bags of shopping and Bowman followed him up Regent Street, a sikde road opposite the store.

A youth charged with murder after a 35-year-old man was stabbed to death at a Leicester home has appeared in court. The 17-year-old appeared at Leicester Crown Court today (Tuesday, June 6) for a scheduled plea and trial preparation hearing, although no plea was entered. The defendant, who cannot be named due to his age, was 16 at the time of his arrest in April after Louis Howard, 35, was found fatally wounded inside a home in Oakdale Close, Braunstone Frith, on Wednesday, April 9.

A drunk uninsured driver smashed into a parked car after "relationship troubles" led to him drinking vodka in the morning. Leicestershire Police were called to the incident in Overton Road in Humberstone, Leicester, at 11am on Wednesday, May 14. Driver Canny Hitendra failed a breath test at the scene and was arrested and taken to a police station. He gave a breathalyser reading at the station of 100 microgrammes per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

A shoplifter stole more than £480 of groceries from a convenience store during eight thefts in 11 days during May. In one incident, Connor Fitzpatrick walked into the One Stop in Ling Road, Loughborough, with a bin bag and filled it with £91 worth of items. During the same period in early May Fitzpatrick also took £220 worth of meat from Marks and Spencer in Loughborough town centre and a £21 iron from the nearby Tesco store.
