A special needs carer has been charged over a seizure of more than €300,000 worth of cannabis and cocaine at her home in Dublin earlier this week. Donna McGaughran, 26, of Iveagh Trust, Bride Street, Dublin 8 and her fiance were arrested on Tuesday after gardai searched their home. Ms McGaughran appeared before Judge Peter White at Dublin District Court today charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and cocaine and possessing the drugs for sale or supply.

A student was captured on CCTV repeatedly performing lewd acts outside a woman’s workplace in Dublin, a court has heard. Rishabh Mahajan (29), from India but with an address in Smithfield, Dublin 7, was charged with three counts under the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act 2017 for exposing himself to cause fear, distress or alarm to another person.

A court has thrown out a bid by landlord-turned-screenwriter Christian Carter to use new anti-stalking laws to “silence” a journalist, preventing her from writing stories about him for five years. In a ruling on Wednesday, Judge Anthony Halpin criticised Mr Carter’s attempt to “gag” Amy Molloy, the Irish Independent’s social affairs correspondent, saying it was not the purpose of the civil restraining order regime introduced last year.

An e-bike rider who broke a jogger's leg in a collision on a Dublin footpath has been spared a road ban but was fined €250 for careless driving. Father-of-three, Stephen Dunne of Russell's Terrace, Kettles Lanes, Drynam Hall, Swords, was prosecuted privately for careless driving by jogger Karl Leonard, who suffered a broken leg following an accident at about 9 pm on August 4, 2024, in north Dublin.
