Under the plan, the Indiana State Police will collaborate with the State Excise Police "to address the issue of public safety around bars that tend to attract crime, drugs, and disturbances," according to a news release from the governor's office.

Caseload limits for the Indiana Department of Child Services would be scrapped under a provision quietly slipped into the state budget that the Indiana Senate passed Tuesday, a move child welfare advocates say could put children at risk. The proposal, which was added to page 157 of the roughly 170-page budget bill without any public discussion, appears to be a response to pressure from Gov.
