BENTON -- The Benton Panthers won their seventh straight game on Friday night, downing the Searcy Lions 50-20 at Panther Stadium in Benton. The Panthers tied their school-record streak of scoring 50 or more points to their fifth consecutive game, which they set last season. Even more impressive is Benton has scored at least 50 in the first half of the past five games.

Hornets jumped on the Fr. Panthers as Jakobe Boone took the rock for a 70-yard touchdown run, with J.D. Olsen’s point-after making it a 7-0 Bryant lead. Bryant made it 13-0 after one when Kyler Shelby hit Jackson Trusty for a 4-yard TD.

BAUXITE – After a couple tough losses last week, the Bauxite Lady Miners got back on the winning track Thursday in 4A West Conference play at Fred Dawson Gym in Bauxite. In a close match throughout, the Lady Miners came away with a 3-1 win (25-22, 23-25, 28-26, 25-23) over the Arkadelphia Lady Badgers to improve to 3-1 in the West, 4-4 overall. It was a big win after last week’s losses against nonconference foe Beebe and West foe Fountain Lake, which is undefeated on the season.

SHERWOOD – It did not start well for either team and the Benton Panthers trailed 7-0 after one quarter, but it did not take long to respond against the Sylvan Hills Bears to open 6A East action for both teams. The Panthers would score 48 unanswered points to claim a 48-7 victory over the Bears at Bear Stadium in Sherwood, with the backups in holding Sylvan Hills late to preserve a shutout in the final three quarters.
