Heather Smith, 37, is charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon in the death of Kara Dills. Multiple people were also injured during the incident at Hunter Lane Apartments. During a bond hearing on Friday, April 25, Judge Christopher Wilson said he would make a decision on bond later in the day or early the following week.

The Child Advocacy Center of Central Missouri helps children who have experienced sexual abuse, physical abuse and children who witness criminal acts. They offer forensic interviews, medical care, mental health services and child and family advocacy.
Governor Kehoe joins volunteers to pack meals at Capitol event

Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe spent part of his Thursday morning wearing a hairnet. Kehoe joined several other state officials at the State Capitol for the Missouri Farmers Care Foundation Drive to Feed Kids. Hundreds of volunteers packed a total of 10,000 meals. "Bringing them together to help pack meals is a great opportunity to showcase what Missouri farm families do to help feed those in need," Kehoe said. Each kit contained dehydrated chicken broth, rice and dried vegetables to make soup.
Race to the Plate brings farming to baseball fans

A mid-Missouri farmer is part of a team helping educate baseball fans about farming. Blake McDonald, from Sullivan, is a fourth-generation beef producer. He and his wife, Emily, have an Angus and SimAngus cattle operation and run a direct-to-consumer beef business. McDonald will represent Missouri beef farm and ranch families during this year's Race to the Plate campaign.
American Heart Association launches inaugural healthy food drive in mid-Missouri

The American Heart Association is doing its part to make sure mid-Missourians in need have something healthy to eat. "The Healthy Food Drive Serve Day aligns with our mission focus on nutrition security," said Melissa Gerke with the American Heart Association. Gerke says SSM Health is sponsoring the inaugural healthy food drive. People who want to take part can stop by St. Mary's Hospital throughout the week. Donation bins will be located at all entrances.

"Vascular disease is known as the process by which the plaque fills up the arteries, usually leaving the heart, going out to the tissues and organs," said Dr. John Adams, Jr. in a recent edition of Beyond Wellness.
Pulaski County murder suspect arrested

NEW BLOOMFIELD — Authorities have arrested a man accused of murder in Pulaski County. In a post on Facebook, the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office says Colin Mar, 21, was arrested at a hotel in Richland, Missouri around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31. Mar is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in relation to the March 29 shooting death in St. Robert.
