(FOX40.com)—The Sacramento City Fire Department recently received a $165,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to purchase new extrication equipment, better known as Jaws of Life. The department told FOX40 News the grant has helped replace the extrication tools in three of its nine fire trucks that had the older equipment. Each set costs about $53,000.

(FOX40.COM) — A beloved Old Sacramento Waterfront attraction is closing permanently down on Monday, the organization representing the shopping and entertainment district said. The 65-foot Ferris wheel which opened in 2020 is closing as part of a $25 million reinvestment program approved by the Sacramento City Council last year. The money will fund infrastructure repairs at the Old West-era district, including to the boardwalk and docks.
