The Summit County Clerk’s Office has formally declared the petition to put the approval of the Dakota Pacific Real Estate project on the November ballot insufficient. On Monday, Eve Furse certified the referendum results for Ordinance 987 — a decision to repeal an amended development agreement with Dakota Pacific at the Park City Tech Center in Kimball Junction — verifying 3,214 signatures. Referendum sponsors needed 4,554 signatures to put the issue on the ballot.

Kouri Richins’ criminal trial has been rescheduled to begin almost a year after it was set to start. The jury trial is expected to last about seven weeks, beginning with six days of jury selection on Feb. 10. Then, witness testimony and evidence would start being presented on Feb. 23. Third District Court Judge Richard Mrazik hoped to wrap up the proceedings by March 26 so the jury could deliberate, and potentially, reach a verdict by April. This is a breaking news story.
