DELAWARE – Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings’ office is defending her participation in multistate and international conferences following criticism of travel that included stays at luxury hotels and first class flights. Documents obtained by the American Accountability Foundation show that Jennings traveled to South Africa in November 2023 and to a Women’s Empowerment Summit in Arizona in 2024, among others, but both trips included stays at upscale venues and other perks.

LEWES, Del. - Traffic patterns at Beebe Healthcare’s Margaret H. Rollins Lewes Campus will shift this weekend due to crane work near the hospital's east entrance. Beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 18, the patient drop-off and pickup circle at the east entrance of the hospital will be closed. The hospital says the emergency department entrance will remain open during this time. Care team members will communicate with patients regarding any alternate discharge locations.

LEWES, Del. - Dr. Jenny Nauman was appointed to fill the role of superintendent for the Cape Henlopen School District at a Board of Education meeting Monday. Nauman will fill the position since Robert Fulton announced his retirement. Nauman came to Cape Henlopen in 2008 and began as an Assistant Principal at Rehoboth Elementary School. For eight years, she was the principal of what is currently called Lewes Elementary School, which was the 2013 National Blue Ribbon Award winner.

SEAFORD, Del. - A shooting in Seaford Tuesday evening left a 32-year-old man dead. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is investigating the deadly shooting, that happened on April 8, at approximately 5:50 p.m. Officers from the Seaford Police Department and Delaware State Police were called to Clarence Street, between Thomas Street and Chandler Street, after receiving reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they say they found 32-year-old, Rihem Frisby, suffering from gunshot wounds.

OAK ORCHARD, Del. - The Delaware Supreme Court has affirmed a Superior Court decision in the case of Stillwater Harbor, LLC and the Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission, bringing an end to a legal battle over planning and zoning decisions in the county. The decision made on April 9 puts an end to the proposed 120 home development, on 57 acres, off of River Road. The project was ultimately denied by the Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission in June 2023.

Superintendent Dr. Jay Owens emphasized the urgency of the referendum, citing unsustainable budget deficits that began in Fiscal Year 2023 and have ranged between $4.2 million and $7.3 million annually.
