Semi truck tips over on Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach, closing southbound lanes

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - A Pepsi semi truck tipped over on Route 1 near the Wawa in Rehoboth Beach early Monday afternoon, shutting down a section of the southbound highway. According to the Rehoboth Beach Fire Company, the crash happened around 12:55 p.m. near 20184 Coastal Highway when the truck struck a cable line and overturned. The accident took place near the Wawa convenience store. Route 1 south was closed between Shuttle Road and the Big Fish Restaurant for about two hours.

The extreme heat warning, issued by the National Weather Service, is in effect until 8 p.m. June 25. According to CoastTV meteorologists, temperatures are forecast to be in the mid to upper 90s, with heat index values between 100 and 110 degrees across most inland areas Monday afternoon and evening.
22-year-old in critical condition from shooting in Milford

MILFORD, Del. - A 22-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times late Thursday morning in Milford, according to the Milford Police Department. Police said they responded around 11:13 a.m. to the 200 block of Valley Drive in Kent County after receiving a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found the man with several gunshot wounds. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

MILLSBORO, Del. - A 46-year-old man is behind bars after Delaware State Police say he killed a 75-year-old relative during a violent altercation inside a Millsboro home. Troopers responded around 6 p.m. on June 15, to the 22000 block of Phillips Hill Road after a concerned family member requested a welfare check. The woman had not been heard from in several days. When officers arrived, they found her unresponsive on the couch. Emergency Medical Services confirmed she was dead at the scene.

MILTON, Del. - A Delaware Superior Court jury has awarded more than $5 million to landowners whose property was taken by the Delaware Department of Transportation for construction at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 16. The land, a 4.2-acre parcel located at the southeastern corner of the intersection adjacent to The Rookery golf course, was seized by the state through eminent domain in 2021. The property owned by PITB LLC includes a 0.2525-acre easement owned by Stafford Street Capital LLC.

DELAWARE - Bayhealth has partnered with the Gift of Life Donor Program to streamline and enhance organ and tissue donation through a new data integration project, making Bayhealth the first hospital in Delaware and only the third in the country to implement the technology. The partnership centers on a secure application called Copernicus, which enables clinical information from Bayhealth’s Epic electronic health record system to flow directly into Gift of Life’s donor record system, True North.
