    On Jan. 24, an East Carbon Police Officer was dispatched to a possible aggravated assault incident involving a male being attacked with a baseball bat. Upon arriving at the residence, the officer spoke with the witness, who stated that he had been in the passenger seat of the vehicle that was driven by the victim. The witness had just met the victim that afternoon when the victim had offered the witness a ride.

    On Thursday night, the Carbon School District (CSD) announced that after school, a student of Sally Mauro Elementary in Helper was struck by a vehicle while walking home from school. According to the school district, EMS was dispatched and the student was subsequently released on site to their parents. However, due to many students witnessing the incident, school staff will support any students on Friday that may be struggling.

    In early 2020, Juniper Kitchen opened on Price City’s Main Street. When the time came for Sherry Nehl to sell the business, Jeff and Marissa Byrge jumped at the opportunity. On Wednesday afternoon, the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) celebrated the new owners and a re-vamped menu with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Byrge’s, who took ownership in August of 2024, both worked with Nehl since 2020, starting as cooks.

    This year’s Emery County Business Chamber (ECBC) Beat the Winter Blues festival took place over the weekend of Jan. 24 and 25. Patrons were invited to come out and enjoy the festival from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, where they would find a myriad of entertainment. Vendor booths, a bingo tournament, cornhole, a kid’s corner and food trucks was just a portion of the fun available.

    Brandon Sicilia, Price City Chief of Police, introduced the 2025 Board of Directors for the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce (CCCC) during the Installation Banquet hosted on Jan. 23. He thanked the members of the board, saying that the chamber has always supported any and everything going on in Carbon County. The Board of Directors, Chief Sicilia explained, shall serve in the policy making, policy arm of the chamber.
