Now, after more than two decades, longtime owner Louise Hinton is closing up and passing the torch. The shop is inside the old bank building at the corner of Court and Hamiliton. It’s a staple of the area and a space filled with vintage finds, hidden treasures and stories. Hinton, who has owned the building for 21 years, said it’s time.

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. (WNEM) - The community and students gathered Wednesday evening at Saginaw Valley State University to protest federal decisions they say threaten the future of higher education and the safety of international students. The demonstration, held just off campus, focused on recent actions by the Trump administration namely, deep education funding cuts and new visa policies allowing student visas to be revoked without warning.

(WNEM) - An international student at Saginaw Valley State University is facing deportation after the federal government suddenly revoked her student visa, according to her attorney. The student had been working through a separate legal matter when her immigration status was terminated without warning. Attorney Nathan Collison said they were close to resolving the issue when she received an unexpected email from the U.S. State Department.

BAY CITY, Mich. (WNEM) - The Bay City Commission failed to override Mayor Chris Girard’s veto of a resolution declaring the city a " welcoming community" during Monday night’s meeting, falling just one vote short of the six needed. The resolution approved by commissioners in March was largely symbolic. It aimed to publicly affirm the city’s commitment to inclusion and support for residents of all backgrounds.
