CLARK COUNTY, Ind — Thousands of Hoosier homeowners have opened their newest property value assessment in the last two months and have been shocked by the numbers. "And I don't mind paying my fair share of taxes. I'm a law-abiding citizen. I don't mind. But to be pummeled by the county is ridiculous," Checheeta Courtney said, who owns the home she lives in in Clarksville and also two rental properties.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — On April 3, just past midnight, an EF-3 tornado touched down in an industrial/commercial area in Jeffersontown near Plantside Drive and Blankenbaker Parkway in Louisville. It then moved northeast over I-64 and the Gene Snyder Freeway to a residential area where dozens of homes were hit. "It sounded like knives coming through the walls," Annie Bolden said, who lives in the Beckley Hills neighborhood. Bolden was home with some family.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kasey Noel, the daughter of Misty and Jamey Noel, was released from jail on Thursday, according to Harrison County Sheriff Nick Smith. "She completed her sentence and was picked up to be processed out through the Clark County Sheriff’s Department. We were simply holding her for Clark County," Smith said over text Friday. Kasey was sentenced to 9 months behind bars on Jan. 13, but since level six felonies are a "50 percent crime" she only had to serve four-and-a-half months.

SALEM, Indiana — A Washington County Commissioner says a local construction company pressured and intimidated the three-person board to award a construction bid earlier in May. He does not feel his colleagues followed Indiana's free and open bidding process. "They were coming to protest me directly. Because they knew I wouldn't be on board giving the job to the highest bidder versus the lowest bidder," Commissioner Tony Cardwell said.
