BATON ROUGE - A local car club, "Mustang Mafia," donated school supplies to Glen Oaks Elementary for the new semester Friday. The muscle cars pulled in one by one, while students at the school jumped and screamed in excitement when the cars revved their engines. "This is something that means the world to these kids and myself," Principal Bernard Williams said. "It will never be forgotten and it was really appreciated by the kids and the staff," he said.

BATON ROUGE - Wednesday, the capital city said goodbye to a historic attraction and piece of history parked — or docked —right in our backyards: the U.S.S. Kidd. Not to worry, though, the Kidd is only staying in Houma temporarily as it is receiving much-needed repairs. She's scheduled to be back in Baton Rouge waters in spring of 2025. For the uninitiated, however, the Kidd has a storied history that Baton Rouge is proud to be the home of. 1943: The Kidd launches on its maiden voyage.

BATON ROUGE - Stephen Kauffman is the first in the world recipient of the newest technology in ophthalmology, the Tecnis Odyssey Toric Lens. A resident of Donaldsonville, Stephen had this brand new procedure done at the Williamson Eye Center, where we met him for a check-up. “I’m still getting used to it. Just being able to wake up, look in the mirror and see myself is amazing, not just some blur in the mirror," Stephen said. Stephen was born without full range of motion in his arms and legs.

This year close to 250 employees contributed over 1,000 hours of community service to non-profits.
