HEAT ADVISORYPatchy fog will lift around 8 AM, leading to a mostly sunny, hot and muggy day ahead. Brace for highs in the lower 90s in the entire greater Boston area. A HEAT ADVISORY will be in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM for “feels like temperatures” around 100 degrees thanks to the tropical humidity. Isolated thunderstorms will pop up locally after 4 PM. Keep an eye on the Boston 25 Weather App during the PM drive home and evening as that’s the best bet for mid afternoon Thursday.

A wave of wildfires erupted in the Bay State last fall, but was this a random event or did science have a say in the timing of these small disasters? To figure this out, we examine the four ingredients that wildfires thrive on: Dry air, strong wind, warm weather, and “dry fuels.” Dry or decomposing organic material, like leaves, would be considered dry fuel. Does Massachusetts Have a Wildfire Season?

BOSTON — We all know Boston as a cold-weather city, but you may be surprised by how hot our warmest summer days really get! It’s no secret that the nation’s highest temperatures reside in the southern US, but the numbers reveal that our hottest weather may not be too dissimilar... How hot do Boston summers really get? In Boston, a typical summer is characterized by highs generally in the low 80s. The average July high temp is 82.3 degrees.

SEVERE STORMS FRIDAYGet set for temperatures in the 70s and 80s instead of the Thursday’s 90s. It won’t be as hot today, but humidity will remain high. Most towns will remain dry this morning with isolated downpours on radar. Things will “heat up” this afternoon with scattered strong and severe thunderstorms. Localized flooding will likely develop in areas hit hardest with torrential rainfall. Stay alert for Severe Thunderstorm Warnings for damaging gusts and large hail within those storms.

HAZY, HOT, AND HUMIDWe have a Weather Alert Thursday for the hottest weather of the week and of the year (so far). Brace for our first 90s of the summer, especially away from the coast. The local beaches will climb well into the 80s with some 70s far south. It will be bright and blazing. While most of the day looks dry, an isolated storm or two could pop up during the second half of the day. Coverage will be very small. The main concerns are a localized downpour and lightning.

Just started going back through some of our video from June 5th. I thought this clip was really cool. Look at the entire storm rotating with the tornado! The much larger tornado that narrowly missed Morton, TX, would occur about 30 mins later. https://t.co/q9EKfTz6p6

It absolutely was wildfire smoke creating that haze today. Some of it got close to the surface in the afternoon, and air quality is being moderately impacted tonight. Shouldn't see much of it tomorrow, but keep an eye out for more towards the middle of this week... https://t.co/TbawKxuaqN

@tuckerweather Hey tuck was that wild fire smoke today!? It was really bad in Kingston. I could barely see the fairways beyond a couple hundred yards
