HAZY, HOT, AND HUMIDWe have a Weather Alert Thursday for the hottest weather of the week and of the year (so far). Brace for our first 90s of the summer, especially away from the coast. The local beaches will climb well into the 80s with some 70s far south. It will be bright and blazing. While most of the day looks dry, an isolated storm or two could pop up during the second half of the day. Coverage will be very small. The main concerns are a localized downpour and lightning.

MILDER FRIDAYHighs will make it back into the 70 Friday afternoon. It will be warm and a little humid. A few hit-or-miss showers or thunderstorms will pop up in the afternoon from 2-9 PM, but most Massachusetts towns will stay dry. WEEKEND IN VIEWWe’ll see a few waves of gusty rain Saturday. Between those period of rain, expect dry stretches. It won’t be great, but it doesn’t look like a total washout either. It will be the 11th Saturday in a row with precipitation.

A THURSDAY ALERTExpect steady rain during the morning commute, turning heavier after about 8 AM. Downpours and gusty wind will drive the forecast from midday through the afternoon and evening. PM travel will be slow with low visibility and ponding water. Rainfall totals 1.2-2.5″ will be common, but some eastern MA towns could see 3″ or 4″ between today and tonight. Wind gusts will ramp up as well, peaking in the afternoon and evening.

MORE CLOUDS, HEIGHTENED RAIN CHANCE THURSDAYScattered showers return on Thursday, but will be hit-or-miss in nature. There will be much more dry time than rain, especially in the afternoon. However, the rain you do see may be moderate/heavy, lasting on the order of 5-10 mins each time. Expect temps to stay in the range of 60-75 from start to finish during the day. Friday forecast is trending mostly cloudy and mostly dry.

Recent rain is leading to some flooding issues across New England. Even once the rain clears, some area rivers and streams will continue to experience flooding. https://t.co/z0pA4tnoDG
