Mumbai Police has announced that 'No Honking Day' will be observed today, August 9, across the city. In an official statement, the city police stated that this decision has been taken to reduce the growing trend of unnecessary honking among motorists. It causes noise pollution in the environment and also adversely affect human health. Action will be taken against those who are honking unnecessarily under section 194 (F) of Motor Vehicles Act (MVA).

The total number of passengers who travelled on Mumbai Metro Line 2A (Anand Nagar - Andheri West) and Metro Line 7 (Gundavali – Ovaripada) have surpassed the 3 crore mark, revealed a latest data provided by the MMMOCL recently. In addition, the daily average passenger count on both the metro lines is nearing the 2 lakh mark, which officials say will be attained by end of June once rains begin. Moreover, the passenger count on line 2A is much higher than on line 7.
