Fourteen years after helping the Boston Bruins win a Stanley Cup, Brad Marchand is one win away from helping the Florida Panthers do the same. Marchand has been unstoppable for the Panthers in their Stanley Cup rematch against the Edmonton Oilers, netting six goals in five games, including five in their three wins. The 37-year-old left winger made history with his two goals during Florida’s 5-2 win in Game 5.

The Boston Red Sox scored only two runs against the New York Yankees on Friday night. But with Garrett Crochet on the mound, that was enough. After giving up five runs in six innings versus the Yankees last Saturday, Crochet was masterful against them in Friday’s series opener, pitching the Red Sox to a 2-1 victory. Boston’s left-handed ace didn’t allow a run until the top of the ninth, when Aaron Judge spoiled his shutout bid with a game-tying solo homer over the Green Monster.

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees typically have strong offenses, and this year is no different. Both teams enter this weekend’s series at Fenway Park ranked top five in scoring. The Yankees are third in the Major Leagues at 5.46 runs per game, while the Red Sox are fifth at 4.93. Not surprisingly, both teams scored a lot of runs when they met at Yankee Stadium last weekend for their first series of the year.

The 2024-25 Hart Memorial Trophy results were announced on Thursday, and they were surprising, especially for Boston Bruins fans. Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck took home the award, beating out Edmonton Oilers center and NHL leading goal-scorer Leon Draisaitl. Hellebuyck, who also won the Vezina Trophy, became the first goalie in 10 years and just the fourth in the expansion era to win the Hart Trophy. There were surprises further down the ballot, too.

Carlos Narváez has only been with the Boston Red Sox for a few months, but he’s already developed a special bond with one of his predecessors behind the plate. This season has been an adjustment for the 26-year-old rookie, who was traded from the New York Yankees in December. However, he’s hit the ground running in Boston, immediately establishing himself as the team’s starting catcher and one of its best players.

I know the Bombers are criminally undersized, but the lack of ability to effect a spoil has been a killer tonight.

Not just Vibert Reserve with sprinkler issues it seems. https://t.co/bBQnTdni8h
