While the Red Sox still have 102 games remaining and plenty of time to turn things around, Breslow doesn't expect them to magically start playing better baseball. "It's too late in the season, and I think the evidence is too strong to just say we're going to be okay tomorrow when we wake up," he said. Boston will likely need to make significant changes if it wants to contend for a playoff spot. Breslow could call up Roman Anthony, trade for reinforcements, and/or shake up the coaching staff.

Unfortunately for the Boston Red Sox, this season has not gone as they hoped it would. After trading for Garrett Crochet and signing Alex Bregman last offseason, the Red Sox were expected to contend for a playoff spot. Instead, they enter June fourth in the AL East with a 28-32 record. Before Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves, Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow spoke to the media about Boston's underwhelming performance thus far. "The simple answer is it's not good enough.

After Friday's thrilling series opener, this weekend's World Series rematch between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees is already living up to the hype. In a highly anticipated showdown between reigning MVPs Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, both players got off to fast starts. Judge homered in the top of the first inning off Tony Gonsolin, giving the Yankees a quick 1-0 lead over the defending champions with his 19th home run of the season.

What a month it's been for Shohei Ohtani. The reigning NL MVP launched two more homers on Friday, helping the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees 8-5. Ohtani drilled the first pitch he saw from Max Fried over the center-field wall in the bottom of the first, then took Fried deep again in the bottom of the sixth. The pair of solo shots raised Ohtani's MLB-leading total to 22, 15 of which have come in May.

Boston has rarely needed to play small ball in the past, thanks to the friendly confines of Fenway Park, but the composition of the team's lineup has changed. With younger, athletic players like Kristian Campbell, Ceddanne Rafaela, Marcelo Mayer, and David Hamilton getting more playing time, the Red Sox need to lean into their strengths and start playing a different brand of baseball. Hitting the ball in the air and swinging for the fences isn't an optimal strategy for this ballclub anymore.

This is why the flex is so handy. I couldn’t immediately see a way to keep Papi as my backup C option, but by shuffling my dual position players through the flex I can get him there. #Supercoach #SupercoachNRL https://t.co/j7eIsMCFLJ
