CORRY — Downtown Corry businesses can improve their storefronts with help from state and local grants. A $100,00 grant to Impact Corry from the state's Main Street Matters program and $125,000 in matching funds from the Mission Main Street program of the Erie County Gaming Revenue Authority will be available to building owners investing in facade improvements. Communities in Erie, Crawford and Warren counties will receive more than $1 million in Main Street Matters funding, Lt. Gov.

The Beckman Road bridge over Interstate 90 in Girard Township will be demolished. Several of the bridge beams were significantly damaged when the bridge was hit by a large vehicle in February. The bridge has been closed since the collision and will be replaced, but not immediately. A new bridge will be built when reconstruction of the interstate resumes in 2028.

A tornado with winds up to 260 mph devastated Albion and Cranesville, killing 12 and injuring more than 80. Survivors recounted harrowing experiences, including the sound of the approaching tornado and the destruction left in its wake. The disaster prompted a massive relief effort. Donations and support poured in from across the country. The 1985 tornado outbreak in three states and also in the province of Ontario was one of the deadliest in the nation's history.
