We appreciate the interest in our manuscript and the growing attention on cost-effectiveness research. Van Hout et al. refer to our graphical abstract, which functions as a structural approach to summarize existing economic evaluations for inheritable cardiomyopathies published until April 2021. Thereby, we simply described each study’s conclusion on the cost-effectiveness of a given intervention without including any personal reflections.

Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is one of the leading causes of transfusion-related fatalities and, to date, is without available therapies. Here, we investigated the role of the complement system in TRALI. Murine anti–major histocompatibility complex class I antibodies were used in TRALI mouse models, in combination with analyses of plasma samples from patients with TRALI.

Based on data from the World Health Organization and World Bank in 2018, mortality rates caused by ischaemic heart disease in the Netherlands are amongst the lowest in Europe, at a relatively high health expenditure [1]. While age-standardised mortality from all-cause cardiovascular disease (CVD), ischaemic heart disease and stroke decreased in past years in both males and females [2], morbidity and associated disability rates will increase in the ageing population.
