Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a widely used diagnostic tool for the evaluation of tubal patency in the fertility work-up (Roest et al., 2021). Tubal flushing during HSG using oil-based contrast heightens the likelihood of pregnancy and a subsequent live birth, increases the chance of a naturally conceived pregnancy, and reduces the time to pregnancy compared to water-based alternatives (Dreyer et al., 2017; Wang et al., 2019, 2020; van Rijswijk et al., 2020).

Does hysterosalpingo-foam sonography (HyFoSy) prior to hysterosalpingography (HSG) or HSG prior to HyFoSy affect visible tubal patency when compared HSG or HyFoSy alone? Undergoing either HyFoSy or HSG prior to tubal patency testing by the alternative method does not demonstrate a significant difference in visible tubal patency when compared to HyFoSy or HSG alone.

What are the costs and effects of tubal patency testing by hysterosalpingo-foam sonography (HyFoSy) compared to hysterosalpingography (HSG) in infertile women during the fertility work-up? During the fertility work-up, clinical management based on the test results of HyFoSy leads to slightly lower, though not statistically significant, live birth rates, at lower costs, compared to management based on HSG results.

As mentioned in the introduction, we hypothesize that lipids or other metabolomic profiles may be different in individuals with migraine compared with healthy controls but also for women with migraine compared to men with migraine. These differences could be the underlying cause for the increased risk for CVD in women with migraine especially. Therefore, we focused on studies conducted on lipid metabolite markers in migraine patients. These studies are summarized in Table 1.
