Bus Drivers needed in Shawnee County

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - School districts across NE Kansas are also trying to secure bus drivers as the school year begins. In recent years bus driver shortages have been a nationwide issue. Shawnee Heights officials tell us they still have four-five positions they would like to fill, paying around $20 an hour for drivers with no experience. Other districts like USD-437 say they are looking to fill 12 positions.

(WIBW) - The Center for Disease Control says this year could be even deadlier than last year which saw a record of over two thousand three hundred heat-related deaths the highest number in 45 years. The Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging says many are at risk during extreme heat waves especially the elderly. According to multiple outlets extreme heat has already killed over 25 Americans this year.
