Two shark attacks on swimmers in the Florida Panhandle -- both in Walton County -- have been reported Friday. The first, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, involved a woman near Watersound, a private beach. Officials were notified of the attack just after 1:15 p.m.The sheriff’s office said deputies and the South Walton Fire District responded to the scene and the woman was transported to an area hospital by the fire department.

Two people are dead in what the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office suspects is a murder-suicide in Chickasaw, a city of about 6,100 people north of Mobile. Chickasaw police were called to a residence on Ryan Street just before 5:30 a.m. Thursday on a report of two people being shot. Police in turn contacted the sheriff’s office for assistance.

Packages containing 25 kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of $450,000 washed ashore on Dauphin Island, the Mobile Sheriff’s Office said Thursday. The sheriff’s office was contacted by Dauphin Island police after the packages were found along the west end of the island. Narcotics detectives were sent to the island and conducted a search, but no additional packages were found.

Mobile County Sheriff’s Office personnel, aided by drones and K9 officers, are searching for a 7-year-old boy who went missing from his home Thursday. According to the sheriff’s office, Jackson Hillman was last seen at his home on Odom Road in the Chunchula community of Mobile County, about 11 miles north of the City of Mobile. Investigators say Jackson is about three feet tall, weighs about 65 pounds, with brown hair, pale skin with freckles, and hazel eyes.
