Introduction Starch provides ~50% energy source for human (Miao and Hamaker, 2021). Starch granules with semi-crystalline structure are the primary form of starch, which are composed of two basic glucose polymers: amylose and amylopectin. Amylose is synthesized by granule bound starch synthase (GBSS), whereas amylopectin is synthesized by three classes of enzymes: starch synthases (SS), starch branching enzymes (SBE) and debranching enzymes (DBE) (Huang et al., 2021).

Section snippetsMetabolic adaptations: challenges of, and opportunities for, HSCs and LSCsHSCs have long-term self-renewal capabilities and replenish the blood system throughout an individual's lifetime. Quiescence in HSCs maintains their genomic integrity and prevents damage to their stemness. Historically, replication stress, marked by the switch from quiescence to the activation cell cycle stage, was believed to be the primary threat to HSC function [1].

AbstractThe Moon has a tenuous atmosphere produced by space weathering. The short-lived nature of the atoms surrounding the Moon necessitates continuous replenishment from lunar regolith through mechanisms such as micrometeorite impacts, ion sputtering, and photon-stimulated desorption. Despite advances, previous remote sensing and space mission data have not conclusively disentangled the contributions of these processes.

AbstractIn noncentrosymmetric superconductors, superconducting and normal conductions can interchange on the basis of the current flow direction. This effect is termed a superconducting diode effect (SDE), which is a focal point of recent research. The broken inversion and time-reversal symmetry is believed to be the requirements of SDE, but their intrinsic role has remained elusive. Here, we report strain-controlled SDEs in a layered trigonal superconductor, PbTaSe2.
