Pet adoptions can be expensive, so if you’re looking to add a furry friend to your home but don’t think you can afford one, Lodi Animal Services will help you out this weekend. The department will be participating in California Adopt-a-Pet Day on Saturday, waiving all adoption fees on both cats and dogs. Animal services manager Megan Ramczyk said the shelter has about 10 dogs and 15 cats waiting to be taken home. “We have kittens, adults, lots of huge dogs, some small ones,” she said.

According to my phone map, traffic on 99 is backed up into Galt. Traffic on west frontage road backed up from Peltier to the Skydive center

I need to start tweeting more again. I'm on scene at the Lodi Skydiving Center, where a possible skydiver landed in the road on Highway 99 and was struck by a car. Waiting for CHP spokesperson for details.

Today is my first day back at the Lodi News-Sentinel. I'll be covering education and public safety, for the most part.
