A former Stockton Police Department officer and a former Ripon youth baseball coach were both sentenced for separate sexual assaults in San Joaquin County Superior Court this week. The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office announced that former sergeant Nicholas Bloed was sentenced to eight years in state prison Monday, following a guilty plea to four counts against four different victims.

STOCKTON — A San Joaquin County supervisor’s proposal to make amendments to flag policy has angered members of the LGBTQ community, as they said his suggestion was regressive. During Tuesday’s board meeting, Supervisor Steve Ding asked the board to consider amending the policy to mandate that when a supervisor requests a historical event, cause, nation or group of people be honored by the county, that the United States flag be flown as well.

The Lodi City Council on Wednesday will receive a presentation regarding a partnership with San Joaquin County and consider developing a new request for proposals for the site. If the council moves forward with a new RFP process, it would effectively cancel the agreement made with the Salvation Army two years ago to operate the access center.

WOODBRIDGE — Two people were injured over the weekend when the small plane they were flying went down near an Acampo vineyard. According to Woodbridge Fire District, the plane crashed into a treeline at about 3:15 p.m. in the 700 block of East Acampo Road on Saturday. The pilot told responders that the plane lost power, forcing a landing near the Mokelumne River. The pilot reported only minor injuries, but the passenger suffered serious injuries.
