(WNCN) — The National Weather Service in Morehead City confirmed a rare EF-U tornado hit parts of eastern North Carolina Monday. The “U” in the EF-U stands for unknown because there were no damage reports and no damage found from the tornado, but it was captured on video.

MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Wednesday’s heat in the Triangle might not be record-breaking just yet, but it is at least record-tying. A temperature of 90 degrees was recorded at 3:28 p.m. at Raleigh-Durham International Airport Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh. That number ties the high set back in 1906. It is the second 90-degree day this month, which has been the warmest April since records started being kept in 1887.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The bald eagles at Shelley Lake Park in Raleigh are new parents again. The two bald eagles, named Raleigh and Shelley, have been coming to the park on 1400 West Millbrook Road in north Raleigh for nearly 10 years. According to the Shelley Lake Park Fans Facebook page, the two eaglets hatched in early March, which makes the baby birds almost a month old as of the first weekend of April.
