RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The bald eagles at Shelley Lake Park in Raleigh are new parents again. The two bald eagles, named Raleigh and Shelley, have been coming to the park on 1400 West Millbrook Road in north Raleigh for nearly 10 years. According to the Shelley Lake Park Fans Facebook page, the two eaglets hatched in early March, which makes the baby birds almost a month old as of the first weekend of April.

There are some large wildfires in western North Carolina, and the smoke from those fires could make it all the way to central parts of the state. It will show up as hazy conditions through the sun and a few clouds. Residents likely won’t smell smoke in the air on Friday, but they will see more of a milky sunshine instead of “Carolina Blue” skies. At least two of the wildfires just south of Asheville near the state have been burning since March 19.
