    YANKTON, S.D. (KCAU) — Officials will be holding a morning of cleaning up the Missouri River shoreline in Yankton. The Missouri National Recreational River said in a release that it will be holding its 19th Missouri River Cleanup on Saturday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to noon at Riverside Park in Yankton. Volunteers can sign up and check in starting at 8 a.m. at the park’s boat ramp. There will be a cleanup of the river along the shore and around the park.

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A South Sioux City man has been found guilty of first-degree murder in the 2023 shooting death of a Sioux City man. On Tuesday, April 16, a Woodbury County jury found Yasin Abdi, 22, guilty of first-degree murder, a class A felony. Abdi was on trial for the deadly shooting of Marlon White Eyes, 36. On June 26, 2023 at 6:40 p.m., police were called to the 1400 block of Ingleside Avenue in Sioux City for a reported shooting.

The recount of the special election showed that Vincent D. Tucker ended up receiving more votes than David James Wilch in the race for 1-year commissioner, North Sioux City’s Finance Officer Amy Lilly told KCAU 9.

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Construction of the Highway 75 railroad crossing just south of Merrill has been completed early and the roadway has reopened. The Iowa DOT said in a Tuesday release that construction of the BNSF railroad crossing was completed three days ahead of schedule. The construction project, which was announced on April 1, required a full closure of both lanes of Highway 75.

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The city of Sioux City is asking drivers to report any potholes they come across on city streets. The city is currently working to repair potholes this spring, with the street division maintaining 450 miles of paved streets and alleys in Sioux City. To report a pothole to the city, call 712-279-6886 or fill out a form on the city’s website here. The city said workers filled 45,363 potholes in all of 2024, using 2,021 tons of hot mix asphalt.
