    YANKTON, S.D. (KCAU) — A new months-long construction project is underway on U.S. Highway 81. According to the South Dakota Department of Transportation, the construction is taking place between the city of Yankton and South Dakota Highway 46. The project includes resurfacing the asphalt shoulders and the four-lane divided roadway just north of Yankton. Phase one of concrete surfacing will start next Monday, April 28, resulting in two-way traffic to be placed in the northbound lanes.

    On Tuesday afternoon, the newly refurbished DoubleTree by Hilton on Gordon Drive opened a new bar and grill called “1854 Grille.” The establishment’s name is a nod to the year Sioux City was founded. The space was previously occupied by a Bar Louie and Charlie’s Restaurant & Lobby Bar. 1854 Grille’s menu is a mix of fine dining with a touch of sports bar specialties. They offer steaks, pizzas, pasta, wings, and more.

The Sioux City Noon Sertoma Club continued its tradition of donating hundreds of scrolls printed with the Declaration of Independence.     NORFOLK, Neb. (KCAU) — A new grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation will now help the city of Norfolk complete its latest trail project. The City of Norfolk has been awarded $2,086,412 in Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant funding. It’s set to support the city’s planning of their Local Intermodal Network Connection (LINC) project.

    OMAHA, Neb. (KCAU) — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has started to reduce the releases at Gavins Point Dam for the winter season. The dam dropped releases on Nov. 23 to about 12,000 cubic feet per second. Gavins Point’s releases before the winter season were at 32,000 cubic feet per second. Officials say they will closely monitor river conditions and adjust releases when needed to lessen the impact of ice formation.
